It happened several years back. On that day, all political parties called for Bharat bandh. As we were working in a private company attended the company. But management has taken decision at 1PM and declared holiday for the afternoon session. In that way we got half-holiday all of a sudden. After finishing lunch we came out of the company. No pre-plans. One of my friends in the same section suggested going for Cinema. I don’t like films because I can’t bear those horrible sounds in the theatre on the name of DT sound system. So I asked him to check the news paper for any cultural activities in the city.
After referring all the pages he found a news item at the corner of the last page saying Painting exhibition by Sri Ram in Ravindra Bharati. We all decided to attend it as it is better than torture of cinema.
To my surprise I found moderately large gathering in the exhibition hall. Paintings were also awesome. Another surprise was that painter was not old man. May be around 30 years. He was explaining his art to some group. He wore white kurta pyjama, more than 6ft height, fair and moderately built personality.
That is not what attracted me. Those flaw less smile and peace spreading eyes are very rare in the common men. I was thinking in that way and forgot that I was staring at him.
Suddenly I heard his voice very near by. Came to this world.
He was with our group and asked me “Shall I share my thoughts on this painting?”
“Yeah…sure” I said covering my confusion.
He smiled and explained that modern art in which we can separate 10 different faces. Until he said no one of our group recognized it.
We said “Hats off to your talent in modern art”. Later some body told us that he got several national and international prizes on paintings. Oops…painting is not cricket to have publicity.
My management sent me to Delhi to attend a 15 day advanced course on chip design. All were unknown faces, so felt little bit uneasy. In the lunch time I heard same manly voice which touched me in the art exhibition. Turned back. Yes…he was Shree with the same mesmerizing smile. “How are you Sneha?”
I felt happy over known person there but got really confused over his presence in chip design course.
He misunderstood my confusion and said “I am Sri Ram. We met three months back at painting exhibition in Ravindra Bharathi.”
With the same confused face I said “I know but you…here!!!”
This time he laughed “I am a chip designer in Broadcom. My management sent me to learn some thing new here.”
“Oh…I see. I thought you were full time painter” I too shared laughs.
“Of course…becoming full time painter is my ambition”.
Within few minutes we became friends.
Later I found him giving a lecture to us on chip design as a part of training session.
In that duration of 15 days I felt some thing strange happening in me which I never experienced before. My inner self started forcing me to be in his company more and more. I gave a thought over it and found these reasons.
• He never showed his male superiority in any one of our conversations.
• In friendly group discussions, he gave importance to hearing and appreciating others’ views.
• He never entered into arguments, never raised his voice and never showed arrogance even though he was experienced chip designer and quite popular in art too. That’s the main reason all became friends to him.
• He takes care even in little things like opening the car/lift door and asking me to enter and closing the door after that. This care on me made me feel closer to him.
One day we all went for site seeing. There all men participated in swimming. When I found him with wet clothes experienced some thing happening in me. Hair on his chest made my heart reaching the throat. Within minutes he came with another dress but I was in the same trance of turn on for several hours.
Later we returned to Hyderabad and kept in regular touch. Even in his absence I started feeling him very near by. That smiling face, peaceful eyes, neat behavior…every thing started occupying my mind and turning me on always. I realized that presence of person is not required…for a woman, thought of her man whom she loves is enough to make her turn on.
One day when we met in the evening, he asked “shall we leave every thing and live near the nature?”
I could not understand what he was saying.
Looking at my confused face he said “I decided to leave this job and live in Dieu and Daman island very near to the nature. Take your own time and decide.”
Immediately I closed his lips with my fingers and said “I am ready.”
He kissed those fingers and said “but your parents never agree for this proposal. You can’t get the luxuries what you are having now. No car, no bungalow, no TV, no cinemas, no job, no money. With my painting works I can earn some thing which may be sufficient up to solving the food problem.”
I said “I am ready. Take me wherever you want.”
He smiled and said “I am going for official meeting at Delhi tomorrow. Meet you after a week.”
I nodded and realized that he gave that gap for me to cross check my decision.
He returned after a week and met me in the evening.
Before him saying anything I said “I packed my luggage. When are we moving?”
He hugged me. We informed our parents.
As he said both side parents objected and gave so many lectures. Advised us to marry and enjoy life by settling in the same fast growing chip design field.
We said “NO” and resigned to our posts and reached Dieu and Daman.
He made a tent at the edge of fishers’ colony. We slept on the sand.
Next day fisher men and women gathered around us. He explained them his decision.
We said “we provide education to your children. Just give us some space here.”
They overwhelmed with that proposal. Immediately we gathered children and told them few inspirational stories.
Fisher men and women helped in building a small hut and gathering household utensils. Even after objecting, they firmly supplied rice and groceries in return to our teaching to their children. As he said Shree started earning money by painting the pictures of the visitors of Dieu and Daman.
We played in water, ran in the beach, slept on sand, and shared sweet nothings in the green fields just like children.
I realized the happiness in living with nature.
When I wanted to hear a song, he sang.
When he wanted to hear a story, I told.
I never felt bored and never felt disappointed.
Parents came and cried over our poor status. For friends it was a shock to see us in a hut. They pitied us but within a day their pity turned to jealous. They realized their robotic lives where no time for any one to spare some time to show affection with any other one.
Shree’s close friend presented two laptops and invited shree as a partner in his chip design company. He didn’t consider Shree’s rejection and told us “No need to come to our city. Just sit here and do the project whenever you both feel like to do and train our staff over visual media.”
In that way we settled in our careers in the lap of nature. Even after 13 years of married life we are in the same state of intimate happy life.
